There is a patient at the end of everything we do.
TrakCel was established in 2012 as a joint enterprise between AwenID, a technology company spun out from Swansea University, and Biotec Services International, a specialist provider of ultra-low temperature-controlled supply chain management services to the biotechnology industry. The Biotec team had early exposure to the challenges of managing complex supply chains associated with cell and gene therapies. They saw that for these therapies to succeed at scale, robust supply chain management at an individual therapy level was essential. Around this time, Biotec’s management met with Dr Akshay Peer who was seeking life sciences applications for AwenID’s patented tracking technology platform. TrakCel was born as a result of these discussions.
TrakCel’s vision was to use the expertise of their founders to create a technology-driven, collection-to-administration supply chain management platform for the orchestration and efficient management of cell and gene therapies at clinical trial and commercial scale.
